Giveaway Photo

I took this photo when I was visiting my lovely friends who live on Vashon Island outside of Seattle Washington.  It is so very lovely there with great photo opportunities.  The giveaway photo  9 1/2" x 7"  with a wide white mat making the total size 16" x 14".

Inspiration, A lovely home

Inspirational Food

Artists are inspired by all different things, places, music, people, smells etc.  One of my favorite artists Mae Connor told me she loved to walk through clothing stores and look at the fabrics and feel them before she started painting. Cool merchandising is one of the things that  inspire me, and this eatery did a great job of merchandising food.  The food was great, the layout was fun, and the merchandising was fabulous... I will try and find out the name... all I remember is that it is in LA

Several of you have sent me lovely pictures of your favorite dress.... so I am on a mission to try and paint them all...

Coffee Shop People

The hardest part about being an artist is just the sitting down and getting started... so here is what I am going to do today.
I have several projects to work on ... quite a few dresses to draw. But I must loosen up and I do this by going to Koffi, the living room of Palm Springs, and sitting down and drawing all the wonderful patrons when they are not looking.. like the sketches above. That way I am around people, I am inspired, I have fun, and then I can go home and start painting..

I am going to work on painting each one and their  story.  The hard part was throwing all the names into a hat and picking only one.. that was not fun...I want everyone to win.

I worked on this painting for a long time.... which is not like me... part of the reason it took so long is the size.  The sketches for this were so fun to create that I thought doing the dress in a large format would be easy, so wrong.  But when I created this I was very lucky, my good friend and fellow artist Joy Mann was in town and we painted together in my studio, which is actually a garage.  We played music while each working on our own pieces.  Being an artist is sometimes very lonely, working with another artist always makes it better.

Sofia Bararo's Comfort Exchange

I am happy to be included in Sofia Barao's autumn swap comfort package.  We must keep the partner secret but I am sharing the items I put in the package for her.  Some handmade soap by a local artist in Palm Springs, my favorite tea Forte, a collection of linen stationary with copies of my photos and paintings on them, and my favorite new find from a local artist candles that look like cupcakes but smell like blueberry or strawberry or whatever cupcakes... they are wonderful.
